Today, in Bands In the Woods Wednesday we thought we do it a little different, instead of featuring a photo or album cover, why not do a video? We have the time and what would be more poignant or poetic right now that Talk Talk ‘s 1986 “Life’s What You Make It” video, from there The Colour Of Spring (1986) album. Coincidentally spring happened last week. For those kept in captivity, you could hardly notice, but as the song goes: “Life’s What You Make It.”

The “Life’s What You Make It” was filmed in the Wimbledon Park, by director Tim Pope who has done a ton of music videos (for the Cure, Rush, other Talk Talk videos and more). These shots presumably took place in the more wooded part of the park and features the band with a wide array of frolicking animals, reptiles and insects. Spotlights add a surreal element like a forest animal rave while Mark Hollis sits at a rustic piano and passionately belts it out the lyrics:
Talk Talk – “Life’s What You Make It” Lyrics
Baby, life’s what you make it
Can’t escape it
Baby, yesterday’s favorite
Don’t you hate it
Baby life’s what you make it
Don’t back date it
Baby, don’t try to shade it
Beauty is naked
Baby, life’s what you make it
Celebrate it
Anticipate it
Yesterday’s faded
Nothing can change it
Life’s what you make it
